A painted and oak kitchen commissioned by vets with several young children and a very busy lifestyle living in a Victorian house in Carmarthenshire.

The operational part of the kitchen was designed to fit into the old kitchen space around the 4 oven AGA. We installed the chimney breast and mantle thus creating cupboard alcoves at either side at the higher level. Notice the large pan drawers either side at the lower level.

The tiles were made by Chantecler tiles and are unusual as they are decorated by the customers small children with their handprints.

The island unit incorporates a Neff oven and hob for use in the summer when the Aga may be turned off or if cooking extra capacity is required. The hob is protected by a beech cover that doubles as a bread board. The island is split level. The lower level is a more convenient height for operations such as rolling out pastry. There is a large pull out bin at one end of the island.

Moving down the kitchen, the room opens out into a large dining area which is part of extension to the house contemporary with the kitchen.

Here we have installed an oak breakfronted display and food cabinet. Note the closed space to the ceiling to avoid dust traps.

All handles throughout are from Clayton Monroe and are their patine finish.

In the dining are is a large oak breakfast cupboard (not shown) with fold back double doors and crockery drawers.

In the corner of the dining area and next to the door to the utility (also made by Wade Furniture) there is an insulated larder unit which contains a cooler unit to maintain a lower temperature within. Inside there is a marble surface and open shelving.
